The general nature of the Grand Island Public Library Foundation’s business shall be:

To solicit and receive gifts, bequests, grants and devices of property of any kind, whether real or personal and wherever situated, for the use and benefit of the Grand Island Public Library or any of its branches as it is presently constituted or for any successor institution with the same or similar scientific, educational and cultural purposes, and to apply, expend and use any or all property so received, principal and income or either, to the use and benefit of the said Library or any of its branches and for such purposes as shall have been approved by the governing body of the said Library.

Information empowers people. It provides the necessary tools for decision making, for bringing pleasure in living and even for charting one's life course. But access to information comes at a price. Fortunately for our community, it's a price that the Grand Island Public Library Foundation is committed to meeting.

The Grand Island Public Library (commonly known as the Edith Abbott Memorial Library) offers a host of programs, services and resources - from books and periodicals to access on the World Wide Web. The library's Foundation exists to maintain and improve upon these avenues of information in our community, providing our citizens with the best possible opportunities to find the information they want and need for an improved quality of life.
 
The library's microfilm reader and
printer was provided by the
Foundation, and it offers access to a
wide variety of archived information.
The Foundation provided the
Aladdin Rainbow Text Reader
to assist library patrons having
trouble reading small print.

Helping Build A Foundation Of Information
 

The Grand Island Public Library Foundation looks to the future with great anticipation. As barriers in communication, geography and information availability continue to disappear, the opportunities for our library to serve the community have never been greater. But we do need your help. Your generous planned gift to our Foundation will help ensure that our library continues a tradition of providing the resources of information our citizens need to make decisions and improve their quality of life.

There are a variety of ways to contribute to the Grand Island Public Library Foundation.
 
CASH
This includes direct cash gifts, memorials and gifts in honor of events or people.

STOCKS & REAL ESTATE
Gifts of stock and real estate during your lifetime may offer unique opportunities for tax savings.

INSURANCE
The Foundation can be the beneficiary of all or a portion of your life insurance planning.

WILLS & TRUST
Gifts to the Foundation can be made through bequests in wills and through the use of living and testamentary trusts.

Charitable annuity contracts can provide estate protection, income, charitable deductions and resulting tax savings.
 


The Foundation also supports the
library's Summer Reading Program,
helping students sharpen their reading skills during the "off months" of school.
